Educational Equity Network
The Educational Equity Network was founded to make even more effective use of the existing experience and expertise at the University of Cologne in the future, and to better support the wide-ranging commitment to students and staff from first-generation backgrounds. The network brings together representatives from a wide range of central and departmental units, alongside students and academic staff.
The network's aims are to:
- provide a space for the exchange of knowledge, experience and insights,
- connect diverse stakeholders to foster collaboration and create synergies,
- support those who have not yet, or have only rarely engaged with the topic - working together to make the University of Cologne a more inclusive place and equitable institution in terms of educational opportunity.

Open to all members of the University of Cologne
The University of Cologne has been committed to greater educational equality for many years, with a particular focus on first-generation students and doctoral candidates.
The focus of these activities is on the continuous and sustainable removal of obstacles and barriers within our university to promote equal opportunities for all.
We therefore cordially invite interested university members of all status groups to participate in the first Educational Equity Workshop.
We would like to engage in a dialogue on the topics of educational (in)equality and classism at our university in order to identify empty spaces and develop solutions so that our activities and measures can address the needs of the target group in an even more targeted manner in the future.
