Anti-racism consultation for employees

This offer is aimed at employees who experience racist and/or anti-Semitic discrimination at the University of Cologne as well as all employees, faculties or institutions of the university who want to critically examine racism and anti-Semitism in teaching, research and seminar rooms and is led by Dr. phil. Rahab Njeri.

As an internal consultant, Dr. phil. Rahab Njeri offers support, mediation and advice to employees who wish to report specific racist or rather anti-Semitic incidents or talk about the stresses and strains caused by racist discrimination. She also supports employees and institutions in the development and implementation of an anti-racism and anti-Semitism strategy.

The anti-racism consultation is offered by the Department for Equal Opportunities. The offer is exclusively available to all employees of the University of Cologne.

Anti-racism consultation for students

Students who experience racist or anti-Semitic discrimination at the University of Cologne have the opportunity to seek help at the anti-racism consultation hour. The consultation hour is led by the therapist Jessie Mmari.

As an external counselor, Jessie Mmari offers support, mediation and advice to students who want to report specific racist and/or anti-Semitic incidents or talk about burdens due to racist and/or anti-Semitic discrimination.

The anti-racism consultation hour is a joint project of the Autonomous BIPoC Department and the Department for Equal Opportunities. The offer is exclusively available to students of the University of Cologne who position themselves as Black Indigenous People of Color or as jewish person.

Point of Contact for Antisemitism Concerns

The Point of Contact for Antisemitism Concerns serves as a first point of contact for students, staff, faculty members and guests of the university. They provide those affected by antisemitism with an opportunity to talk and, if necessary, to inform them about external support and counseling services and refer them accordingly. The Point of Contact for Antisemitism Concerns acts as the central contact person for those members of the university who engage with topics related to antisemitism. Monitoring of antisemitic incidents at the university will be carried out in close collaboration with the Central office for protection against discrimination and abuse of power, as well as with external reporting offices for antisemitism.

What is the Autonomous BIPoC Unit?


The Autonomous BIPoC unit is an association of BIPoC students at the University of Cologne. The goal of the unit is to advocate for marginalized and racialized groups at the university. It has set itself the task to mobilize people who want to stand up for a racism-critical university. The aim is to create a space for respectful dialogue and a place of encounter, regardless of race, class and gender.
