Trigger warning
A trigger warning or content warning / content notification refers to a marking of sensitive content. These warnings are intended to give readers and listeners the opportunity to prepare to engage with the sensitive content. Trigger and content warnings are intended to give people the opportunity to decide if and when to engage with certain topics. Triggering content can trigger strong emotions or memories in people. Warnings are placed at the beginning of a post or message, sometimes with white space between the warning and the actual content so that the content does not appear at the same time as the warning. The goal is to create a non-discriminatory, safe or safer space for participants.
