Racial Profiling

The term "racial profiling" refers to the targeting of ethnic minorities by police officers. Police officers act on the basis of stereotypes and external characteristics. A person is classified as suspicious and controlled on the basis of race, skin colour, descent, national or ethnic origin rather than on the basis of concrete suspicions. Racial profiling leads to discriminatory decision-making.
