Important terms in the field of anti-racism
This glossary serves as an overview and guide to key terms that currently play an important role in public discourse in connection with the term “racism.” The glossary is intended as an explanatory aid and support for understanding these terms. At the same time, it is recognized that many of the concepts discussed are socially contested and subject to constant change.
The presentation is based on current knowledge and draws on existing specialist literature, scientific works, and existing glossaries. The glossary does not claim to be exhaustive and aims to use self-designations as consistently as possible.

Forms of discrimination
Forms of racism target specific groups of people. Due to differing historical contexts, racism can manifest in various ways in its concrete effects. This is why we often speak of “racisms” rather than “racism.”
These include, among others, anti-Black racism, anti-Asian racism, anti-Muslim racism, and Gadjé racism (racism against Romani* and Sinti* people).
